HyperArmor does not patch ESX: it buys you time
Broadcom introduced VMware HyperArmor today: a separately sold layer that mitigates ESX hypervisor flaws with "no host reboots or software upgrades". The most honest sentence of the launch came from one of its own engineers: "this basically buys you time". The free route to avoiding the reboot has existed since vSphere 8.0 Update 3, and it ships with a written exclusion list: TPMs, DPUs and virtual machines without Fast Suspend and Resume. Of the three pieces HyperArmor sells, one is already sitting on your host, switched off.
